Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't the timer advance on my Maytag dryer, I already replaced the timer?

A:

I must assume it will not advance in time or auto cycles. The timer motor must have 110-120 volts when measured across the GY and BR on the timer or the timer is not going to advance. The electronic control board supplies neutral to the BR terminal from terminal #2 on the electronic board. The timer motor is not going to run without a Neutral supply to terminal BR on the timer. Check for loose wire connections at terminal BR and the plug connecting the electronic control board. I added the wiring diagram in the image below. The timer motor needs to have 110-120 vac supplied across GY and BR or the timer will not advance. Since you already replaced the timer and the new timer won't advance likely indicates the electronic control board has failed or the electronic control board is not receiving the Neutral from the White wire between the terminal block and the electronic control board.

The control board is part #33002389.
