Question and Answers

Q:

how do you install interior baffel replacements MDE4000AYW Maytag Maytag laundry

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your dryer and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number MDE4000AYW and you will need to dissasemble the front of the dryer. First make sure the dryer is unplugged. Open the door and remove the screw from the hinges holding the door to the cabinet. The oposite side has 2 triangular pieces with a screw holding it in place which will need to be removed. The front panel has a clip on each top corner which hold the panel in place, will need to pull on each side of the panel gently to release from the clips. Between the clips on each side is a metal plate that hooks in to the top holding it down. Removing the screw will release the hook plate and at this point the top will open up and allow you access to the drum. You will need to turn the drum to where you can loosen the screws holding the baffle in place.

If you have further questions please let me know.
Thanks for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

Hi Denise,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

According to the service manual for this model number it can be vented to the rear, left side, or bottom. To vent this dryer to the left side or through the bottom requires a kit. This kit can be purchased at Sears Parts Direct Vent Kit . The kit comes with instructions.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

On this type of symptom you will need to use a meter to make some checks with. First, you need to check the breakers. An electric dryer will run on 120v but takes 220v to heat. I am sending you the wiring diagram with the path of voltage to the heating element outlined. All of the components in the path have to read closed continuity on your ohmmeter. Please see the image in the attachment provided below.

Remember to disconnect power before attempting access.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.
