Question and Answers

Q:

Filter cleaning MDBH969AWS1 Maytag Undercounter dishwasher

A:

Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Maytag Dishwasher model MDBH969AWS1. I am so sorry the dishwasher is leaving white residue on the dishes. I know the last thing you want to do is wash dishes that just came out of the dishwasher. I will be happy to help you with this. I have included the link for you to view the owner's manual online in case you don't have a copy.

Your dishwasher does not have a filter to be removed and cleaned. The white residue that you see on the dishes could be caused by a couple of different conditions. If you have soft water then the cloudiness you see on glassware could be etching. This happens when the water is too hot, too much detergent is used, or pre-washing. If the glassware is etched, the cloudiness cannot be removed. (Please see page 11 of the manual.)

If the white residue can be removed, then the issue may be hard water. Hard water means there are a lot of minerals in the water. This can leave residue on the dishes as well as inside of the dishwasher. Using a liquid rinse aid will help reduce spotting and help the dishes dry better. It also helps to clean the dishwasher on a monthly basis. You can use a white vinegar solution or a dishwasher cleaner such as Dishwasher Magic. I have included the link to order the cleaner for you.

I hope this answers your question. If you need further assistance, please resubmit your question with additional details. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

It could have a faulty dispenser assembly or control board preventing the dispenser from opening. I added an image below of the dispenser electrical circuit.

In order to diagnose the failure will require separating the outer door from the inner door liner. The dispenser assembly has an electromagnetic coil/solenoid that must be supplied with 120 volts in order to trigger and release the door. The solenoid coil can be disconnected and tested for resistance with an Ohm meter. The solenoid coil should have a resistance measurement of 280-340 Ohms; if it doesn't I would suspect a faulty control board. To separate the inner door panel from the door, remove the screws on the inner door panel. NOTE: Disconnect the power supply from the dishwasher before accessing the dispenser solenoid if you feel confident testing the solenoid yourself. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
