I don't have repair information available for that component. I looked at a picture of the dispenser. It appears that the latch should just push into the body of the dispenser. If the latch cannot be inserted back into the dispenser so that it will work properly, then you will probably need to replace that dispenser assembly. You can order that part from this page: Dispenser for Maytag Dishwasher Model MDBH969AWB1 . If you install that dispenser yourself, be sure that you shut off the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher before accessing internal components. The basic procedure for replacing that dispenser is shown in the image below.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician examine and repair that dispenser, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

The link for a previous answer that Joseph P. provide in the above response covers a different type of Maytag dishwasher but it does describe some general troubleshooting steps that you can take on your model. Check the sink drain and the dishwasher drain hose for a clog. You will normally need to drain the water out of the dishwasher using a wet/dry shop vacuum before pulling the drain hose off of the drain pump. The installation guide will normally help you access the drain pump under the dishwasher. Here is a link for that installation guide: Installation Instructions . Be sure that you shut off the house circuit breaker and the water supply for the dishwasher before accessing internal components. If the drain hose is clear, then you could have a bad drain pump. A clog in the sump area could also prevent the dishwasher from draining. I provided a procedure for accessing the sump area in the image below. Your dishwasher may look slightly different than the one shown below but the basic access procedure is the same. If you find not problems in that sump area, you will probably need to replace that drain pump to fix this dishwasher problem.

You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.
