I recommend that you check the water fill level. This is one issue that you have not mentioned. To check this fill level, start the dishwasher and allow it to fill. As soon as the filling stops, crack the door open to stop the cycle. Open the door fully and examine the water level in the bottom of the tub. It should be at the level depicted by the arrows in the image below. If the water level is too low, I recommend that you try adding hot water manually to raise it to the proper level. See if the dishwasher will spray and work properly with the proper water level.

If the water level is low, you will need to examine the fill line and inlet water valve. Shut off the circuit breaker and cut off the water supply for your dishwasher. Pull it out from under the counter. Here is a link for the installation guide: Installation Instructions . You can reverse the installation steps in that guide to pull the dishwasher out and access the water fill components. Check for restrictions in the water line and the screen in the inlet water valve assembly. If the screen is clogged, I recommend that you replace the inlet water valve. The part number for that valve will depend on the serial number. I recommend that you reply with the full serial number if you need to order that part so that we can make sure that you order the correct valve. You can order parts from the Sears PartsDirect website but Maytag parts are often difficult to order since some parts are based on the model and serial number.

There are not any modified spray arms that you can install on this dishwasher. You may be able to improve the spray pattern by replacing the front door panel. That part was modified in mid-production of this model to improve the spray pattern. All of the old panels have been purged. Any new replacement panels will be manufactured using the new design. The proper inner door panel part will also depend on the serial number as described above. Reply with that serial number if you want to replace the inner door panel.

A weak wash pump could also be causing a weak spray pattern in the dishwasher. A technician is normally needed to replace that component. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details (and that serial number).

Hello, thank you for answering. The water level seems to be appropriate for enough water since it has enough water in the tub. My serial number is: 22165505CX. How does the door panel help with the spray pattern? Thanks. --Phillip

The original inner door panel on some of the Maytag models had a lack of support on the bottom of that panel that allowed food to accumulate under this front lip of the door panel. This could cause a water flow problem in the dishwasher. The revised door panel has additional alignment tabs that will prevent food residue from collecting under the front lip of that door liner. Based on your series number (22 -- the first 2 digits of your serial number), it is likely that you have the revised door panel. If you checked all of the issues recommended in the above response, I recommend that you consider having a service technician examine the dishwasher. If you need more help, reply with additional details.
