Question and Answers

Q:

Install dishwasher door gasket MDBD880AWQ Maytag Dishwasher

A:

Check the existing gasket. It is probably not cemented in. That type of gasket normally pushed into a channel around the opening to the dishwasher tub. Note the orientation of the original gasket. Pull it out and push the new gasket into place in the same manner as the original one was inserted. Shut the dishwasher door and leave it shut for a few hours to seat the new gasket.

A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The manufacturer no longer sells the turbidity sensor and we can no longer get it from any of our suppliers. There is no substitute and we don't know of any other source for the part. I do not know of any way of by passing the sensor.

It sounds like it's time to consider replacing the dishwasher.

Joey S, I have been washing in Heavy duty and it seems to work, because it doesn't sence dirty water. However, now it wants to stop some time in mid=cycle and I have been pushing on door and it starts again. Do you think the door isn't making good contact? I've done this a couple times and then it runs to finish. I don't know how to tighten up the door. Any help on this?

A:

kuts: Based on your additional information I would say the door switch is not always closing and completing the circuit. The door latch houses the door switch. I would suspect you may be able to shim the door latch assembly out a little and this may resolve the issue. You will likely have to remove the control panel and possibly the outer door panel to access the door latch assembly. There will be two door switches and both will need to close when the door is shut. I added an image below which may pertain to your model. At this time I'm not able to access the service manual but if you just take the control panel off by removing the screws on the back side after opening the door, you can likely figure out how to access the door latch and door switches. There is no adjustments that can be made other than to shim the switches and or door latch to insure the switches closes when the door is shut. Disconnect the power supply from the dishwasher before servicing.

Q:

How do I replace the soil sensor (turbidity sensor) in a Maytag model MDBH950AWQ dishwasher?

A:

The sensor is located on the bottom of the tub to the left of the motor.

The instructions to replace the sensor are in the image below. You will need to remove the lower access panel and while it might be easier if the dishwasher is pulled out the sensor can be replaced from the front. Remember to turn the power to the dishwasher off first.

The 99002650 sensor is available from the following link: Sears PartsDirect . I also suggest you get the 99002651 o-ring seal so it can be replaced at the same time.

I hope this information is helpful to you but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
