Q:

Maytag MDB9100AWB - No display lights

A:

When it comes to appliances not working properly it can be really concerning. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, a suggestion I have is to visit Sears Home Services website to set service with a Sears technician. I have attached the link below. Hope this helps!

If only half the display lights work the problem might be the turbidity sensor but from the description you give none of the lights work.

If there are no lights then there are two possible causes and one thing to check.

The door switches must be okay. On this model if the door switch is bad there will not be any display.

If the door switch is okay and there is voltage to the main control then the control is at fault.

There are possible controls for this model depending on the serial number. Each will cost approximately $100 dollars and can be done as a do-it-yourself project.

If you think you'd like to give it a try then reply to me and I'll provide more do-it-yourself help.

My poor wife. I have taken this long to look at your response and determine what to do now. When you say the door switch must be okay, what do you mean? Are you saying it has to be okay or it won't work? How do I test or check the door switch? Is there are way to verify power to the dishwasher, just in case there is not? Thanks for your help.

If there are any display lights then the door switch is okay. If there are no display lights at all then check the door switch for continuity if a meter is available.

Fred, I know it has been awhile. My wife still has no dishwasher. I pulled it out and tested the switch. Using a multi tester it seems to be working. I guess the next thing is to test the controller. I don't know what that is or where to find it. I am going to search online to see if I can find a schematic or something. Any advice? I also tested for power to the dishwasher and it seems there is.

The wiring diagram is in the image below. From the problem you have I susupect the control board is the problem. I can give you the correct part number but I will need to know the first two digits of the dishwasher's serial number. There are 4 different controls depending on the serial number. Please reply with a serial number for the correct control.

Thanks in advance for your prompt action.

On this particular model if either of the door switches, there are two, do not work then there will be no display at all. The diagram below may be helpful to you if you have a meter and feel comfortable checking voltage. On the control board you'll notice double black and double white wires. With the door shut you should read 120 volts. Please use caution and turn the power off while accessig the control.

Good evening and thanks for all the information you have supplies to help me fix my dishwasher. one, the diagram you sent to me to be able to diagnose the membrane is not readable, I will appreciate if you could send me one that is readable. I went ahead and replaced the control board since the switch is giving out 122 and 120 volts respectively. I touched the pads soon after the replacement and nothing happened, no lights, I left and came the next day touched the pads and nothing happened, I touched the delay control bottom and the dish washer started working. I did that twice and it worked, but the next day 2/2/2013 it failed to work. I have tried it tiday 3/3/2013 and none of the key pad is working and no lights. Can you please help. Is there anyway that I can purchase a diagnostical book from anywhere to help me fix this problem? Many thanks

Q:

Maytag dishwasher MDB9100AWB leaves white residue on dishes. Upper sprayer is clogged.

A:

Removing the spray arms on the Maytag dishwasher is not that difficult with help from the experts. I am attaching a few link on similar issues with other Maytag dishwashers. This may be helpful while an expert responds.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

It appears by the parts image, the upper spray arm is secured by a snap in retainer. The retainer (key#31) should pry out in order to remove the upper spray arm. See image below.

This may be the issue. If not, please reply and I will be glad to assist you further.
