Question and Answers

Q:

Why is my Maytag dishwasher not starting?

A:

Something like this is usually caused by a failure with the touchpad. All you can really do is access the console & inspect the ribbon connection & make sure it is securely plugged in to the control board & not torn or damaged. Other testing will require using a meter do perform some diagnostic checks. I recommend replacing the touchpad assembly if the connections check good.

Please see the images provided for access to the console.

You may also want to make sure the dishwasher is plugged into a properly grounded source, because electronic controls can behave erratically if not properly grounded. Also check down at the junction box, where the power is connected to the unit, often by wire nuts, as those can become loose through time, and start to heat up/burn, causing a poor, and sometimes intermittent connection. (most likely it will be the control though)
