Hi Mary,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

The door latch (part number W10275768), the part inside the door, is the part you most likely will need to replace. Here is a video that will demonstrate this replacement; Video . Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts. This video is for demonstration purposes only. The dishwasher in this video may not look exactly like yours, but the procedure is basically the same.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Q:

What causes my Maytag dishwasher model number MDB7601AWS to not light up?

A:

If nothing lights up and there is no display at all the first thing to check is the wall switch if the dishwasher has one. Some dishwasher have a power switch on the wall next to a light and disposal switch. It is not impossible for the switch to be turned off by mistake and no one realize it.

If you don't have a wall switch or if it is not turned off then the most likely cause of this problem is an open thermal fuse. The wiring diagram in the image below will help with this problem. If the thermal fuse is open then there will be no display and the dishwasher will not run.

A volt/ohm meter is the best way to check the thermal fuse if you have access to one and are comfortable using it. Check resistance across the fuse and if the circuit is open then replace it. The fuse can be obtained from the following site: Sears Parts Direct.

The 2nd image below shows how to access the thermal fuse.

Finally you can remove the lower access panel, see the 3rd image below, and check the wire nuts on the wires at the junction box are still tight.
