Q:

when I turn on my magtag dishwasher all i get is a humming sound out of the timer. The dishwaster will not work. Can this be the timer ?

A:

If the timer hums then the door switches are most likely okay though at some point a volt meter might be needed to verify voltage.

You say the dishwasher will not do anything and such a problem would be most likely a timer problem.

The motor might be bad but the dishwasher would still fill with water.

If the dishwasher will not fill, wash or drain and if the element doesn't work in the dry cycle then the 99002057 timer is the most likely problem.

It can be obtained from the following link: Sears PartsDirect for approximately $81 dollars.

A timer could verify proper voltage to the timer but if the "on" light is light and nothing else works the timer would be a good bet.

With more details I might be able to help you further.

How do I get to the filter on my Maytag dishwasher model MDB4100AWW?

A:

The parts image below shows a diagram of your pump assembly. To access the primary filter (Key 6), follow these steps:

  1. Shut off the breaker to disconnect electrical power to the dishwasher.
  2. Remove the wash arm cap (Key 34) on the top of the bottom spray arm.
  3. Remove the bottom spray arm (Key 2) and the filter guard (Key 36).
  4. Remove the jump up nozzle (Key 1).
  5. Remove the 6 torx screws (Key 5) that secure the secondary pump filter (Key 4) on the pump housing assembly.
  6. Pull the secondary pump filter off to access the primary filter.
