Question and Answers

Q:

water drips in ice maker freezes into mound of ice MBF2256KEQ11 Maytag Bottom-mount refrigerator

A:

That type of failure is normally caused by a leaking inlet water valve (part 67003753). Replacing that water valve should fix your problem.

Unplug the refrigerator and shut off the water supply before accessing and replacing that valve. It is located at the bottom, back portion of the refrigerator inside the machine compartment.

Q:

Maytag. mod# MBF2256KEQ1. I have a problem with the freezer coils turning to ice & raising refrigerator temp.

A:

Hi Michael.  I can understand your confusion over your coils continuing to frost up.  You've made some decent efforts to resolve this issue.  I've was unable to locate similar links to your situation using your model number so I did a generic search and have located a link that is somewhat similar to what you're going through.  Click here to view the link.  Though this link discusses a different model number,
the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be
responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and
instruction. I hope this information will be helpful and have a nice day.

 Hi,

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

The coils frost because there is not a defrost cycle happening, but here is the trick on this refrigerator.  When it goes into defrost the brown wire has 120 volts on it and at the bi-metal the orange wire is a feedback to the control board that the heater has 120 volts on it.  If the bi-metal opens or the orange wire is open the control board will stop the 120 volts to the heater.  I have for you a diagram and the test programs for forcing the defrost cycle and service test 1.  The board is located behind the control panel in the refrigerator section.

Service manuals are only for sale or company property.  You might try www.servicematters.com and see if you can register on that Whirlpool site.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.
