Thank you for your question. I understand your concern about this electrical odor. Actually, there is no typical part that causes this problem. Now if the fan you are referring to is the condenser fan behind the cabinet, then the odor could be from the motor itself or it could be from the wiring. The relay or capacitor could cause an odor but usually only when either one has actually failed (shorted), in which case, the compressor would not run.

Now, if the fan is the one in back of the freezer, it could be the motor itself, a loose electrical connection or the heating element may have shorted. I recommend having a technician check this.
