I know that it can be very difficult to have issue with your washer. It sounds like the suspension springs for the washer may have been stretched. This will cause the terrible vibration you are getting from the washer. Suspension springs (part number 21001598) will need to be replace. The springs is key number 18 in the image provided below. You can order this part from Sears Parts Direct for $5.65. Please click here to review the video on this repair. If you don't feel comfortable in performing this repair yourself, just click on this link to schedule services: Sears Home Services. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

From what you're describing it sounds like the thrust bearing has failed. If the unit is in spin & the motor is running & the pump is draining then this points to the thrust bearing. The thrust bearing is what releases the brake when the motor reverses for spin, the pulley rises on a cam to compress the brake spring to allow the unit to spin, if the thrust bearing goes bad the brakes will not release. Everything will work except spin.

Another possibility is the belt, transmission or something lodged between the tubs.

First, disconnect power to the washer. Carefully pull the unit out far enough to tilt it safely back against the wall. With the unit tilted back safely reach underneath & release the belt. You will be removing the center pulley assembly # 24. Remove the dust cap & c-clip next; pry the c-clip off with a flat blade screwdriver. The instructions I am sending you will step you through the replacement process, pay close attention to the timing marks for the brake release adjustment. The height of movement has to be exact to properly release the brakes.

After replacing the thrust bearing kit please get back with us if you have anymore questions or need further assistance.

Please see the images provided below for more information & instructions.

The first responder's link has good info but is not for this model.

Q:

How do I install the water valve on my Maytag washer?

A:

This model has 2 water valves available depending on your series number. One water valve has a thermister that the 2 wires connect to. It sounds like you ordered the wrong valve. You need to order valve part number 12002158. The series number is the first 2 numbers of the serial number.
