Question and Answers

Q:

What is wrong with my Maytag model MAV7000AWW washer that won't fill with cold water any more?

A:

If the washer doesn't fill with cold water then the most likely part that has failed is the water valve and I 'd recommend checking it first.

Remember to unplug the washer before accessing the water valve.

The image below shows how to raise the top and access the wiring to the water valve. If you have access to a volt/ohm meter you can check continuity across the two terminals of the cold water valve. If the circuit is open then replace the valve.

You can also check voltage to the valve during fill and if there is 120 volts to the valve but no water then replace the water valve. If there is no voltage then replace the timer.

If you have no meter there is another way to check this problem. If the hot water valve is working then swap the wires on the hot water valve to the cold valve and see if you can get cold water.

The inlet valve is part number 22002708 and is available from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .

I hope this information helps resolve this problem.
