From the description of the problem I suspect the motor pivot spring is weak or the motor is not pivoting to maintain proper tension on the belt. This particular washer has one belt that drives the spin and drain pump. If the water is draining out then the motor is running the right direction. As the water drains out the motor should pivot to increase the belt tension and drive the spin. When the washer first starts the spin cycle the belt will slip while the water drains out. The motor should pivot back and fort to maintain the correct belt tension. There is a motor spring that does this. There may also be lint/debris preventing the motor from pivoting. The images below will help you remove the front panel to check if the motor will pivot. Remember to unplug the washer first.

Q:

maytag washer model mav6057aww wont always spin out on final drain .thought it might be a problen with selecting second rinse but it can happen in eather selec

A:

I'm happy to help you resolve this issue you're having. Is it that the washer wont drain or spin or both? Is it spinning and your clothes are coming out wet? Have you checked the drainage line behind the unit for kinks or blockage? I provided two links below you might investigate while waiting for an expert response. The first is a video. I hope this helps you and thank you for contacting Manage My Life.

I'm sorry the washer is giving you problems. Nobody likes the laundry to pile up on the floor. I can most likely help you with this problem but I will need a few more details. I understand the unit will not spin but I'm unclear if it will drain the water out. If the motor will not run at all then the lid switch may be at fault. If the motor is running and the water drains out then the no spin problem may be caused by the tension/motor spring. Please reply with any additional details or questions for further assistance.

Hi Loy,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life.

This can be caused by a number of things. Without being able to see this when it is happening will be difficult to diagnose. I highly recommend having a trained service technician evaluate this problem.

If you would like to try and correct this issue on your own, you will need to isolate the area the noise is coming from. I am including a set of images below that should help with this. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram or to purchase any parts needed; Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. Check the things I have covered here, and if I may be of further assistance, include more details in a reply to this post.
