Hi,

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance not working.

The seal is one that will come off counter clockwise.  If all the teeth are broken off you might try a pair of slip joint pliers or failing that use a sharp cold chisel and cut it off.  If you do this keep in mind the shaft of the gearcase has threads on it and you do not want to damage the treads.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Bill

You have done all that is necessary. After removing the 4 bolts the spin basket should release.

There is a gasket that most likely is holding the spin basket in like it's glued. Over time the heat from friction will cause the gasket and tub to stick together.

Try rocking the spin basket with two people.

After the 4 bolts are removed the basket should come out.

That series of Maytag washer has a base but it does not have a part that I would call a "drain tray". You can view the parts list diagram of your washer on the Sears PartsDirect website. Key your full model number into the search field to access the parts for your particular model. The format of the Maytag model number for the Atlantis washer will be similar to this: MAV6000AWQ.

If you are having a problem with the washer leaking or need specific help with a repair on the washer, reply with the full model number and serial number of your Atlantis washer and we will assist you further.
