Question and Answers

Q:

part for Maytag washer MAV4057AWW MAV4057AWW Maytag Washer

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Maytag Washer, Model: MAV4057AWW. From reviewing the details on your model, My suspicions are with the lid switch. If the motor is not running then the lid switch is the most likely cause of the problem. If the motor is running but the transmission pulley is not then the spin bearing might be locked up. Check if the belt has any burn marks. Try turning the tub by hand in the spin cycle. If the tub won't turn then the bearing or brake is the problem.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the washer to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com. I can definitely understand the importance of getting the right kit for your model and making it work properly.

The biggest difference between the two kits is seal kit 21002237 does not go to your model number, it goes to a Maytag model MAV6458AWW which is newer than the model that you have. If the two washers had the same part specifications being used, the part number would be the same for the two kits. Because these part numbers differ from one another, there will be small and subtle differences and it would not be a good idea to purchase a kit because it looks similar or is cheaper. I checked Maytag's spec sheet for kit 21002237 and it does not list your model as applicable for the kit.

To get the original OEM kit, I would recommend ordering 12001598, that way you know for sure it will be a correct fit and won't have any issues. Hopefully this will help.

If you have any further questions or inquiries, please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Thank you for your question.  I am sorry you are having a problem with your Maytag MAV4057aww washer

Caution: Before attempting any repair, unplug the washer first.

You describe a very unusual problem.  There was a known issue with this washer sometimes not draining or spinning because of a intermittent contact inside the lid switch.

The fix was to replace the lid switch.  Make sure the lid switch is being activated for each load.   While the washer is turned on and agitating, wiggle the harness to the lid switch and see if the washer shuts off.

I hope this is helpful to you.  You can reply below with any additional details or questions for further assistance.
