Q:

flame weak flash yellow M1MC090 Nordyne Furnace

A:

Thank you for being Sears’ valued member and for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Nordyne furnace model M1MC090. I am so sorry the flame is weak. We definitely depend on the furnace during the winter months and need it to be reliable. I know you want to get this issue corrected quickly. In this case I recommend you have the furnace serviced by a qualified technician.

A yellow flame indicates the flame needs more oxygen. This may mean the air baffle needs to be adjusted (opened). It could also be from a lack of air to the furnace. The flue should be check. The reason I recommend a technician is because this type of flame can be dangerous. It produces harmful carbon monoxide that you will not even know is building up in your home.  A trained technician needs to check and clean this furnace and make the necessary adjustments. I suggest not using this furnace until it has been thoroughly checked and repaired by a technician. You can set up service at www.SearsHomeServices.com or by calling 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME).

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern. A yellow flame indicates the flame needs more oxygen. Usually adjusting (opening) the air baffle will correct this. However, this can also be from a lack of air to the furnace. The flu also needs to be checked. This type of flame is dangerous, it produces harmful carbon monoxide. I strongly recommend having a trained technician check and clean this furnace and make the necessary adjustments. I suggest not using this furnace at all until it has been thoroughly checked and repaired by a technician. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
