A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your washer. Upon researching model lxr7144eq1; it sounds like the drain pump may need to be replaced. The drain pump allows the unit to drain the water into the home drainage system as needed so when it fails it can cause the washer not drain the water that it no longer needs. I have posted a link of the drain pump to view the link click here.

Q:

Why does my Whirlpool model LXR7144EQ1 washer continue filling after it reaches the fill line?

A:

If the washer continues to fill then the most likely problem is a bad water level switch.

If the washer overfills and you turn the timer off or unplug the power cord and it still fills with water then the water valve is bad.

If you turn the power off and it stops filling then the water level switch is most likely the problem.

There is a clear plastic hose on the water level switch that goes down to an air dome on the side of the tub.

The air dome can be clogged or the hose can have a hole in it and I suggest you check for this first before replacing the water level switch.

The console has two screws on the corners that you remove to tilt the console up to access the switch and hose. See the image below for this.

With the tub empty first remove the hose and blow through it toward the tub. It should blow freely and you might hear bubbles from the water in the sump.

If you can't blow through it then it is clogged or kinked and no pressure comes up the hose to trip the water level switch.

The switch is part number 3356466 and is available from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .

I hope this information helps to resolve this particular problem but if you have other questions then submit another question with any additional information for further assistance with this problem.
