Even though you indicated that the gas valve coils tested good, your details seem to indicate that the coils or the gas valve is bad. Since the igniter glows and then fades off, the components in that heating circuit are all apparently okay except for the coils or the gas valve. You could also have a gas supply problem this preventing the burner from lighting. The theory of operation for the gas burner assembly is shown in the image below. I recommend that you check your gas supply provided to the dryer. If that gas supply is okay, I recommend that you try replacing the gas valve coils. There is a kit that is just over $20 that contains both coils. The part number for that kit is 279834. Here is a direct link for that part: Valve Coil Kit . If you replace those valve coils and still have problems, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

Be sure that you unplug the laundry center and shut off the gas supply before accessing internal components and replacing parts.

If you get to a point where you need to have a service technician repair this failure, you can schedule one through this link: Sears Home Services .

Hi Lyle, I replaced both coils and I've made sure there is gas supply to the valve. Is there a possibility something else is stopping the valve from opening? Do you know where I can find a schematic which will show me what other components are in the circuit. Do you think it has anything to do with the thermostat question I asked in my original question? Are there any fuses in the circuit? Could you help me locate those. I don't want to replace the gas valve unless it's necessary and really appreciate any ideas you have to help me determine that and rule out anything else before I do that. Thank you very much.
