A:

We now seem to do our laundry every day now. I think we all get a little frustrated when an appliance we depend on starts acting up on us. I'm sorry to hear that you are having some issues with your Whirlpoll laundry center. I did some research at Managemylife website and found an expert answer to a similar question that may help until your expert can respond. I have attached the link below so you can check it out. Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I'm not sure if youre saying the washer had shut off in mid cycle or if it's the dryer. I suspect you are referring to the washer. If the washer will not operate in order to agitate and it will not operate in order to drain and spin; it sounds like it may have a broken or faulty lid switch. The lid switch is located under the top. The lid switch must be in working order or the washer will not operate. The lid switch operation can be tested with an Ohm meter for continuity. When the lid is shut, the lid switch must complete the electrical circuit or the washer will not operate.

If this is the case; I added an image below with the procedure of removing the top of the washer. Check the things I have covered here and if I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Hopefully I can resurrect this conversation, and that you are still there. I have the same problem and an having trouble figuring out how to access the lid switch. I think the small picture you posted would be useful to me, but it is very very tiny. Can you help out? Thanks. Jason

Q:

Dryer Not Heating, Please Help LTE6234DQ2 Whirlpool Washer/dryer laundry system

A:

Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when the dryer isn't heating.

Glad to help out.   Im  looking at your Whirlpool model number LTE6234DQ2.

First thing for safety and concerns to keep dryer running well is to check the lint screen and vent of air flow going out of the house.   If clogged up it could cause heating problems on any dryer.

To prevent a Blocked Vent Hood, once a year:

1.  Clean any lint blockage from the exhaust vent hood.
2.  Make sure the vent hood flappers move freely.
3.  Check for screen/grate openings that allow bird or rodent nests.
4.  Replace exhaust vent hood if damaged.
5.  Check for good air flow while running the dryer.
Note: Poor airflow or decreased airflow indicates further vent system cleaning is needed.

When it comes to Electric dryers here are all the options to check on when not heating.
All can be checked with an Ohm meter for its continuity open or closed.

You can see all these on the link below when clicked on.

Heating element which is key number 14

Thermal cut off switch which is both key 47 and key 48 together

ON the back of the blower is an internal thermostat key number 42

Also on the back of the blower is a thermal limiter key 50

Make sure you always keep  your lint screen areas clean.

I just went to lowes and bought a cheap continuity tester, $7.95. The brand new thermal fuse is not continuos. What would cause this to fail after two loads of laundry? I checked continuity on all other fuses on blower housing and heating element shield and they are all fine. The vent to the outside of the house is clear with good air flow which keep flaps of guard open when on. I just wonder why it failed so quick.

I am having the exact same problem with the exact same model. i wish someone would reply, as all areas of air flow are clean with good air flow, and all the things that Mike checked, have also been checked and are fine. Mine actually worked for a couple of months before it went out again. And after the detailed cleaning of all lint when I installed the last thermal cut off kit, it was drying better than it had since I had gotten it.
