Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The new spin basket will use the original lint filter that was attached to the original spin basket. The lint filter did not grind lint, it trapped during agitation and when the basket spun, it would fling the lint off and go down the drain.

You will not install the old lint filter for the fact it will not adapt to the new spin basket. The new basket should not rub the bottom of the tub with the new filter plugs installed.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Joey S: The original lint filter (the flying saucer) will not align to the snap in holes in the new basket. So, I cannot use the original lint filter on the new basket. Also, the filter plugs are indeed designed to go into the 4 holes in the bottom of the basket (came with an installation diagram) but they do not fit in the holes on the bottom of the new basket. New basket holes in the bottom are a smaller diameter & are pulled on 1 side. I am assuming that nothing goes in now & that the pulled holes in the bottom operate like the lint filter. They don't fit the holes in the center column either (holes smaller than the plugs). Unfortunately I bought the set of 4 for $16 + $10 s&h. Oh well, live & learn. Glad to know the basket will clear the tub bottom. Thanks. Frank

Frank: I meant to say the original lint filter will NOT fit the new basket. I left the word "not" out in my last reply.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

If you have the spanner nut off, the spin basket is ready to lift up and off. The basket is likely stuck or seized to the drive block. You can normally break it free by push downwards on the front of the basket and then rotate it and push down, rotate and push down and keep doing this and it will eventually loosen up from the drive block and then you can lift the basket out.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.
