Why is my Whirlpool washer knocking during the spin cycle?

A:

From what you describing it sounds like the drain hose or one of the fill hoses may be hitting the back of the washer. Use a large zip tie to secure all 3 hoses together away from the rear panel of the washer. Other possibilities; transmission, basket drive, spin basket & balance ring.
