Q:

washer stops after fill. will restart if the machine is jarred. Timer? door switch? LSR8433KQ1

I am thinking perhaps the timer motor is jamming (does it need lubrication) or is the door switch defective. I am leaning toward the timer as the culptit although at least twice the machine was restarted by slamming the lid down.

A washer that doesn't want to work seems frustrating! It does sounds like the lid switch is at fault. Open the lid & check the lid switch, you should hear it click as you raise & lower the lid. Push in on the lid switch with the eraser end of a pencil. Your washer should start running. If you do not hear the lid switch engage I would recommend replacing the lid switch. If the lid switch is what needs to be replaced, you can order that part for you Whirlpool washer model LSR8433KQ1 at SearsPartsDirect.com.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions, feel free to comment back!
