Thank you for your question.

If you have to turn, the basket to get it to spin the problem is in the basket drive or clutch. I recommend washing a few items to see if the load will spin without a problem. If it spins fine, I recommend replacing the clutch. If the load does not spin, I recommend replacing the basket drive and clutch. The parts can be ordered from our parts website: Sears Parts Direct .

I have found a video that shows how to replace the clutch. Click here to watch the video.

If you need to replace the basket drive, you have to do the same as replacing the clutch and remove the spin basket. Click here to watch a video on how to remove the basket.

I hope this is helpful. Please feel free to reply below with more details if you need further assistance.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Before you order the timer, I would like you run the washer without opening the lid. The reason is after the agitation portion of the cycle the washer will pause. Then when it start in the drain and spin the motor will run but not spin. This is the neutral drain portion of the cycle. The motor will run for roughly 2 minutes then pause again. When it starts again, it should spin. Often times customers do not know about the neutral drain portion of the cycle. The image below should help in the diagnostic.
