Thank you for submitting your question. I understand your concern and I will be happy to assist you. If the washer is agitating before filling, then there will be an issue with the water level switch (3366847). The relay in the switch sticks and allows the washer to agitate before filling or allows both functions to happen at the same time. A simple check is to access the load water level switch and unplug the wires to it. Then check the operation. Make sure you unplug the washer first. Once the console is open, the water level switch have a clear plastic hose connected to it. Remove the connector that has the violet, white and the blue with orange stripe from the switch. Then carefully plug the washer back in and start a wash cycle. If the washer does not do anything, you'll need to replace the water level switch. If the washer still agitates, then the problem is with the timer (3951702) and it'll need replacement. You can order parts from our Sears Parts Direct web site. I hope this helps. I know that it can be difficult to have the washer stop working properly, especially when you need it. When the washer suddenly shuts off mid cycle, this indicates a component failure. You are correct that the problem will be either the timer or the pump. If you can hear a humming sound coming from the bottom of the washer, the pump will need to be replaced. If you are not hearing anything, then the problem is the timer. You can order these parts from this link Sears Parts Direct If you are not comfortable doing this repair on your own, then I would recommend that you schedule a service technician to come to your home.
