Having an important appliance such as a washer begins to malfunction can be a real frustrating and sometimes expensive experience. Thanks for your question about the washer model LSC8244BQ0.I will be happy to help with this issue.

The description you provided sounds like the upper part of the agitator is not oscillating because the dogs are worn out inside the agitator. They are called agitator dogs, and allow the agitator to move one way only while resetting their position. I will provide the Part number for the kit (the kit comes with installation directions) and provide a link of a previous answer that explains how to replace these parts. Dogs part number is #80040 and here is the link to our Parts Direct Sears PartsDirect

Below is a link for viewing and additional instructions. The model will not match yours but it is the same. I believe this will solve the issue you are having ,if you need additional help reply with more details.

Thanks Ron H.

How do you remove and replace the agitator dogs in our Kenmore washer?

I ordered the dogs from a different site as they were a lot cheaper. However, they came in and we installed them and now the agitator spins a lot stronger than before. Thanks for your help. Glad I didn't have to purchase a new washer.
