Q:

MY LG model # LRBN22511TT ice maker have stop working. I replaced the water supply line due to black specs in the ice and ice tasting funny.

A:

I can appreciate your concern over your ice maker not working.  Are the trays filled or dry?  If they are dry, it may be an issue with an obstructed water inlet valve or a frozen water line.  I have located a link that will discuss your situation in more detail.
Click here to view the link.  Though this link discusses a different model number,
the mechanics are likely going to be very similar. Keep in mind that an expert will be
responding within the next two business days if not sooner and will likely offer you more information and
instruction. I hope this information will be helpful and have a nice day.

I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your ice maker. From what you are describing, it does sound like the problem is with the water valve. However, since the ice maker is an option part for this model, the water valve is not listed in the parts information. In order to determine which part you need, you will need to contact LG. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

AnneJ Thanks for the help I called LG they were just as lost as myself. So I did some research and the closet model to mine was LDC22720ST. I also took off the water valve and got the product number. This part has been reordered awaiting to come in a try. Only thing will I have to purchase the new tubing to go into the back of the refrigerator? I was told that I could use the old one. Next thing if this does not work will be to replace the ice maker which I hope is not the case.

Dennis, From everything that you have described it does sound like the water valve. I don't think that you will need to replace the ice maker. As for the tubing, the old should work just fine. The only time you will need to replace this is if it is damaged, cracked or split, but then you will have a lot of water leaking under the unit. Please let me know if you need anything else. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

A:

You do not want to remove the old valve until you have the new one. It is easier to change the wiring from one to the other with it there. Also the new valve will come with detailed instructions for you.

Anne, My new valve came in and I installed it around 745pm last night. Woke up this morning there is still no ice. Is this normal or will it take a longer process? Also, if this doesnt work what else should I consider changing on the refridgerator.

Anne, I had to to the ice out of the freezer let defrost. After reinstalling I place some water in the ice maker and ice was made. The problem that I'm faced with now is the arm of the ice maker is constantly shutting it off without a full tray of ice. Is there something that can be done?

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about this new relay. This is very unusual because all relays should have at least 2 terminals. After checking with the source, it was verified that the relay should have at least 2 terminals. The part number listed does show to be a good number and if it only has one terminal, it will need to be exchanged. It would also be very helpful to have the number of the compressor on the unit, to determine the correct relay. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and please also include the complete serial number and I will be glad to assist you further. If you can send a picture of the relay, it would also be very helpful.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I have the same issue. My old relay actually had three spades, but only two were used for a black wire and a blue wire...no instructions were included as to how to connect the new part.

Keith, if this is the same model as above, I'm attaching the wiring diagram for the relay and compressor. The black wire goes to the overload and the blue wire to the capacitor and terminal 2 on the relay. If this is a different model, please submit a new call to the regular MML web site. It will help to keep this thread from getting mixed up with 2 different models. I hope this helps you.

Keith, I checked with the source on this and there are some models that don't use a capacitor and this could be a relay for one of those type models. The model listed above does show that it uses a capacitor. To make sure you receive the correct relay, the complete model and serial number will be needed.
