Question and Answers

Q:

LG microwave model # lmv 2083st has no power.

A:

I am sorry you are experiencing difficulties with your Microwave. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. I strongly suggest that you have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. I have provided a link To Sears Home Services if you decide to schedule service. Have a great day!

If the microwave is working with the door open then the door switches are likely a problem. You seem to have above average do-it-yourself skills but microwaves do not make good do-it-yourself projects. Even with no power some parts retain a lethal amount of voltage. It is difficult to get assistance because of the dangers working on microwaves. A service call, labor and parts would likely be in the $200 dollar range. You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . From the description you give I suspect it will be cheaper to repair than replace but I do not suggest any do-it-yourself repair on this unit. I am sorry, but we do not give repair information on microwave ovens because they are inherently dangerous to service. Microwaves contain high voltage internal components that can retain a lethal electrical charge even when the microwave is completely unplugged. Door repairs and adjustments, even minor ones, can cause microwave leakage, and a microwave shielding leakage test must be performed using a survey meter after any microwave service. That's why I strongly warn you to have this repair handled only by a qualified service technician. You can schedule service online with Sears Home Services or by calling 1-800-4-MY-HOME.

Normally at ManageMyLife.com we like to help you with all of your repairs, but our expert advice is that microwaves are just too dangerous.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Based on your symptom and details the line fuse inside the microwave has likely blown which can happen for no reason or it could be related to a component failure. Microwaves inherently store huge amounts of voltage even when unplugged from the power source which can cause severe bodily injuries or could be fatal. For this reason microwaves should only be diagnosed and repaired by service technician with the proper training and knowledge.

You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
