Question and Answers

Q:

my gas dryer is intermittent LG7681XSW2 Whirlpool Residential dryer

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Whirlpool Dryer, Model: LG7681XSW2. From reviewing the details on your model, the key to determining the problem is to know what the ignitor is doing. Most of the timer this problem is caused by the gas coils or the gas valve. If the ignitor continues to glow and click off with no flame then the coils or valve is at fault. Some Kenmore dryers has a small square plug to pry out to visually check what the ignitor is doing.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the dryer to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

I hope this answered your question. Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com, and have yourself a wonderful day.

Q:

Why is my Whirlpool dryer heating up but not spinning?

A:

I believe you are correct to suspect the drum belt. Please see the image provided explaining how to access & replace the drum belt on your Kenmore gas dryer.

NOTE; the front panel is a little different than what’s shown in the image. Remove the lower front panel to access the door springs & front panel screws on your model.
