Question and Answers

Q:

Food in refrigerator freezes LFX25960TT Lg Bottom-mount refrigerator

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

I am sorry to hear of the freezing food in the refrigerator crisper drawer. I know how frustrating that is to have occur.

Typically when the food is freezing in the refrigerator compartment and adjustment of the temperature isn't working (presuming you allowed it to cycle for about 24 hours), it usually ties back to a temperature sensor or thermostat for the unit that needs replacement.

If the sensor replacement doesn't work, you may have an issue with one of the electronic control boards. In that case, we would recommend having a service technician come out and test the electronic boards with a multimeter to determine which is at fault.

If by chance the temperature sensor is needed, I have included a blue link below that you may click on to be directed to the PartsDirect page to purchase the part.

Thanks for the information about the interior lights not working in your refrigerator. Sorry you are experiencing this problem. Unfortunately the model number you provided does not seem to be correct as I cannot bring up any data for service.
Based on the description I would suspect a wiring problem between the light switches and the socket, this would be internal wiring. This would be a repair I would recommend calling a technician to come and diagnose the exact cause. If you could reply with a complete model number off the refrigerator I would be able to research and reply.

Thanks Ron H.

Hi Joe thanks for the response with the model number. This helps me do some research.
When you replace the sockets did the kit come with a harness? If it did not then I suggest ordering this parts # 6621JK2003B, this comes with a harness.
Before you order check the voltage at the harness connections for power supply. If you are receiving power at harness connection but not to sockets then the harness is bad and you can order.

Check to see if there is voltage at the light bulb sockets. Are the sockets hot or melted? These refrigerators use a relay on the main board (located on the back of the unit) to turn the lights on and off. The relays commonly fail in the on or closed position which makes the lights go on contentiously. The light socket has a overheat safty switch built into it located at the sockets. The lights will go on heat up and then shut off when the light socket gets hot. This heat has to be overcome by the refrigeration system in the unit and it will run and the face of the frame will warm up. See if the bulbs are still good and if there is voltage at the socket, that's easy. If the bulbs come on, heat up and go off the relay on the main board is stuck closed. It is easy to fix if you know how to solder and can use a voltage meter. The relay is only 3amp. I replaced mine with a higher rated model from radio shack for $5 and it took around 1.5 hours to sort it all out. See the picture below for the repair.
