Bread de-rosted but Meat still frozen?! Help Please LFFH1467DW3 Frigidaire Freezer

Thank you for contacting with your question about your Frigidaire Freezer model LFFH1467DW3. I am so sorry food in it is starting to defrost. I will be happy to help you with this.

There are several things that could cause this defrosting problem. It is normal for meat, which is denser and takes longer to thaw than bread, to still be frozen while other items are defrosting. If the cooling issue persists, I suspect the meat will soon be thawing out too.

If the items that have already defrosted are grouped together in one section of the freezer, then there may be a problem with the door gasket. If cold air is escaping from part of the door, then items closest to the air leak will defrost first. A good way to test the door gasket is with a dollar bill. Close the dollar between the cabinet and the door. Then pull the dollar out. If there is resistance when you pull on the dollar, the seal is good. If the bill slides out easily, the gasket is not making good contact. Test the seal all around the door and replace the gasket if it is bad

If the gasket is good, then the issue may be with the temperature control. If it is faulty, it may not register the internal temperature correctly. You can test the temperature control with a multi-meter.

The issue is more serious if the problem is with a faulty evaporator, condenser or compressor. These parts should only be replaced by a qualified technician. To have a Sears technician complete the repair for you, you can set up service or by calling 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME).
