i have a lfd2h air compressor, i know the valve on top of the piston is the intake valve but where does the intake air enter the crankcase ? is it filtered ?

Thank you for your question.

I will be happy to assist you. I looked up the model number you submitted. The intake on this model is in the piston. The piston has a hole in it and a reed valve sits over it. On the down stroke, air enters the cylinder through the hole. On the up stroke, the intake valve closes and forces air out the outlet valve. The intake air enters through a hole in the crankcase. I do not see a filter anywhere so it must be an open hole. I posted an image below to help. Click on the image to enlarge it.
