Question and Answers

Q:

Does my refrigerator have a filter to change? (LFC25770SW) LFC25770SW

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
This model of LFC25770SW for LG does not utilize an internal water filter. Typically, internal water filters require no special tools for replacement other than a filter cap that you could grab onto to twist it out of postion. I am curious to know what type of tool you are referring to as I am sure it has a purpose on the refrigerator.
You could always look at installing an in-line water filter on the unit, which would connect to the main water supply line before reaching the water inlet valve on the refrigerator to filter the water coming into the unit if you wished.
To look at the available in-line water filters, I have provided a blue link below that you may click on to be directed to Sears.com. Hopefully this helps.

Thank you, Josh. It is the filter cap and it came with the LG and I have kept it but didn't know why it was given since I couldn't find the filter! I thought I'd ask to be sure.

Q:

ABOUT EVERY TWO MINUTES MY FRIDGE CLICKS ON AND RUNS FOR 15 TO 30 SECONDS AND THEN CLICKS OFF? IT IS AN LG, MODEL # LFC25770 SW, PURCHASED 4/09/2009.

A:

From the description you give the problem will likely be with the compressor or the start relay.

You will need a volt/ohm meter to check this problem.

Voltage to the compressor should be checked while the compressor is trying to run. The compressor can also be checked for an open winding.

You can check and verify the condenser fan is working. If the fan doesn't work then the compressor will over heat and shut down.

If the compressor is the problem there is a parts warranty for up to 7 years.

I would suggest a technician check and repair this problem.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself or you don't have a volt meter then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

For anyone who has this problem, yesterday, my friend found the relay switch had gotten hot and replaced it. Problem solved! The fridge is working perfectly now. The earliest date Sears repairman could come out was June 10th. I felt that date was unacceptable so, they decided maybe June 8th. Still unacceptable! Their response doesn't say much for their repair service! Thanks Fred for your response.
