Question and Answers

Q:

Thermostat replacement for Whirlpool Dryer LEW0050PQ0 Whirlpool Residential dryer

A:

Thank you for choosing Searspartsdirect.com and being a valued member. I can certainly assist you in locating the instructions to replace the thermostat in your dryer.

SAFETY THERMOSTATS

A pair of safety thermostats is located on the dual element housing. One is a manual reset thermostat, (302°F (150°C)), and the other is a self-resetting thermostat (194°F (90°C)).

1. Unplug dryer or disconnect power.

2. Pull the dryer away from the wall so that you can access the rear of the unit.

3. Remove the four outer screws from the heater and thermostat access panel and remove the panel. NOTE: Do not remove the two heater screws on the access panel. They secure the heating elements and thermostats to the panel.

4. To remove the safety thermostats:
a) Remove the two screws from the thermostat bracket and remove the bracket.
b) Remove the wire connectors from the thermostat you are servicing.

Q:

I have a whirlpool stackable dryer model #LEW0050PQ and I can't get the belt on this dryer doesn't seem to have a idler pully to adjust LEW0050PQ0 Whirlpool Residential dryer

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I will be more than happy to help with your dryer. Upon researching modelLEW0050PQ; there is not an idler pulley being that the belt wraps around the drum. One thing to check is the part number of the belt. Make sure it is part number 8182481 as that could be an issue. If it is the correct part number then the motor could have to be loosened so the belt can wrap around then re tightened.

If you have any further questions please re-post. Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Q:

Electrical burning odor and stopped running LEW0050PQ0 Whirlpool Residential dryer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your dryer smells like electrical burning.  I did look into the model number you have provided, and I have found information to assist you.

If you have a gas dryer, you could have lint in the cabinet around the burner assembly that is causing this burning smell. Even a small amount of lint in this area could cause the burning smell. If you have completely cleaned all of the lint out of the cabinet at the bottom of the dryer, then you should be okay. You may detect the smell of burning lint due to some residue that is around the burner assembly. If all of the lint is cleaned out, there should be no danger of lint catching on fire and burning the dryer.

I recommend testing the components for continuity to make sure one of them is not bad. If they all check okay, I recommend a service technicain further diagnosing the unit.
