Question and Answers

Q:

Why won't dryer start?

A:

Having your Dryer not start can be tough because we need nice dry clothes to wear. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, I found some great links in the Manage My Life website. You can also set service with a Sears technician. I have attached the link below. Have a nice day!

It sounds like the motor got binded up from the shoe. The motor may still be running but is out of synce with the drum. Try rotating the drum the other way and see if the unit will work again. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance.

Q:

The heater in my Whirlpool dryer (LER7648PT0) stopped working... I need to narrow down which part I need to replace. I already reset the circuit breaker...

A:

Needing to replace parts on a Dryer can be really concerning especailly when its an appliance we use in an daily base. While you are waiting on an expert to answer your question, a suggestion I have is to visit Sears Parts Direct website to speak with a Sears associate to find out what parts are needed. I have attached the link below. Hope this helps!

I already spoke with them before coming here... they are the ones that suggested this site. I bought a multimeter ($10) and tested the fuse and it was good. I then tested the heating elemenl and it showed an open. Upon further inspection I saw a break in the coil and ordered a new one. I already put it in and it's back to new... only cost me $58!

Q:

why is there no air blowing in my electric dryer during operation?

A:

Hello, Troubleshooting appliance issues can be challenging. The first place I check for tips is the owner's manual. I tried to find your dryer's manual but was not able to find with the number provided. If you have the number handy, a suggestion I have is to click on the link below and enter the number. This may help while you wait for the expert answer. Another option is to visit SearsHomeServices and use the scheduler for a technician to diagnose and repair the dryer. I attached the links below. Hope this helps!

If there is not air blowing out of the exhaust then I suspect the blower wheel is broken.

I suspect the blower is the cause of this problem.

With the rear vent off you should notice an increase in air flow as long as the motor is running.

If there is no air out of the exhaust and the drum is turning then the blower wheel is most likely broken.

I hope this information is helpful to you but if there are any additional details then I can most likely help you further with this problem.
