Question and Answers

Q:

whirlpool electric dryer model. LER5644EQ0 WILL NOT START AND WAS TOLD MAY BE THE NON RESETTABLE THERMAL FUSE ...... YOUR OPINION?

A:

Thank you for your question. I understand wanting to replace the right part. If the thermal fuse is bad then the motor will not run. The thermal fuse is on the blower housing. Unplug the dryer and pull away from wall. Remove the screws to the back panel and remove. The fuse is visible on the blower housing. Remove the screw and the two wires to remove the fuse. The thermal fuse can be checked for continuity if you have a volt/ohm meter.  If there is no reading, replace the fuse. If the fuse needs replacing, it is part #3392519 and can be ordered at Sears Parts Direct . While the  panel is off, I would also check the belt. If the belt is broken or off, the motor also will not run.
