Q:

Why is my Whirlpool dyer not starting?

A:

Something like this will require using a volt/ohm meter to track down where we are loosing voltage to the motor at. When you set the timer contacts BK to BU have to close, this sends voltage to the push to start relay from there voltage goes through the thermal fuse to one side of the motor. Neutral voltage to the motor comes from the door switch. If you have a volt/ohm meter I have provided you with the wiring diagram in the image below.

Another possibility is a short in the wiring harness, door switch.

If you find an open thermal fuse be sure to check for a shorted to case heating element & have the exhaust venting cleaned out & checked for blockage.

Remember to use extreme caution when working with live voltage & disconnect power before attempting repairs.
