Q:

I needed to replce my heating element wirlpool Model LEQ8611LW1

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more then happy to assist you. Looking at the information you can't gain access into this dryer thru the back. What you'll have to do is remove the two screws in the corner of the control panel( closes to the top). Once those are removed there are two clips under each side of that control panel, with a buddy knife, slide under each side( there are two clips). Once those clips are removed the contort panel will fold back and you'll be able to remove the cabinet. Pull forward on the cabinet at an angle and then set aside. Do what you need to do then reverse the process to re assemble. Hope this information has help you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can Click Here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663. Any further questions or concerns. You will have to post a new question because at this time I can not reply to any comments. Again, Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

Hi Linda,

Thank you for submitting a question to Manage My Life. I know how frustrating it can be when appliances do not function properly.

Most likely the door latching parts have become worn out. I recommend replacing them with kit number 279570. Here is a link that you may use to view the parts list diagram and for parts purchases; Sears Parts Direct .

Here is a video that will show you how to do this; Video . This video is for demonstration purposes only. This dryer may not look exactly like yours, but the procedure is basically the same. Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service. Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thanks again for using Manage My Life.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I must assume you removed the one screw on the left side securing the heating element in the housing before attempting to slide it out. If you did remove the screw then the heating element has likely burnt in two and has tack welded itself to the heater housing. You will need to break the tack weld loose from the housing by prying it loose with a screwdriver and then slide the element out.

I also added an image below with instructions on removing the heater element.

NOTE: Be sure to have the power cord disconnected from the power source before removing the element.
