Q:

Heater Assembly Replacement LEH1642DS0 Frigidaire Laundry center

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when needing to replace the heater assembly on your dryer. I did look into the model number you have provided and I have found information that will assist you with your repair.
To remove heater and replace:
1. Disconnect from power
2. Pull down the top of the panel directly beneath the dryer door. The panel unhooks from the cabinet
3.Remove the two screws holding the top front panel to the fram. unplug door switch harness
4. REmove the four screws securing the front panel to the top of the dryer cabinet. Lift the front panel away from dryer
5. Lift the dryer drum up two or three inches to loosent he belt. REmove the belt from around the motor pulleys. SLide drum out
6. Unplug the two wires leading into the heating element. Remove the four screws holding the element assembly to the back of the dryer cabinet.

7.Pull the heating element assembly out of the dryer. Insert the new heating element assembly into the dryer. Install the four screws that hold it to the cabinet.
8.Plug the wire connectors into the heating element assembly.

You are able to locate videos on Youtube on how to remove the heater from the unit.

Let me know if this helps. Thank you for your question. Have a great day.

Vibration in front loading washer

A:

Ok so the bearing comes with the basket, the entire basket must be replaced. Something I can attempt? What gaskets should I get?

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

That is correct, if the bearing is worn out, the rear half of the tub must be replaced. Also, the basket itself could have a broken support on the back of the basket causing the basket to be loose.

It is a major procedure to remove the tub assembly and the basket can be difficult to get the basket out too. I strongly suggest calling service to have your washer repaired.

The service manual states the dryer section has to be removed in order to lift the tub assembly up and out from the top of the washer but you may be able to remove the tub from the back of the washer. It looks like a major job to remove the dryer and if you do, I strongly suggest trying to remove the tub assembly from the back of the washer. I added two images below with the basic procedure of removing the tub and basket assembly. The rear tub shell with bearing is part#131525500 at the cost of $183.39 which can be ordered from Searspartsdirect.com

If I were you, I would call and have a service technician remove and replace the rear shell.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link:Sears Home Services.

Whatever you decide, do not tear the washer and dryer apart and then call and expect a service technician to put it all back together. He will not do this. He would want to tear it apart and put it back together and try to re-assemble it after it has already been taken all apart.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Bill; I would not be able to provide an estimated time of delivery of the spin basket. Bill, check your warranty, the spin basket has a limited 2-25 year warranty but in order to get it under warrannty, a technician would have to order and install the part.

I was able to locate a basket locally. None of the Service centers could get the part. I have new bearings and tub gasket coming as well. I was able to clean the tub halves and hopefully if the install goes well this thing should be like new. Fortunately it's not a fridge so I can take my time. This is certainly a 2 person job to get the tub out and back in. For anyone with good mechanical skills it's not too bad of a job. Although it not finished yet :).

The repair is finished. Ran 2 loads last night no issues. This issue of the broken spider comes on slowly as the machine now is much smoother than it had been. So slowly over time the vibrations increased, just an observation to detect this in the future.
