A:

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

There could be of many possible component failures preventing your Maytag gas dryer from heating:

  1. Timer
  2. Temperature switch
  3. Cycling thermostat
  4. High limit thermostat
  5. Radiant sensor
  6. Glow bar igniter
  7. Solenoid coils

In order for the burner to ignite, the glow bar igniter must receive 120 volts from the timer. The circuit is the routed to the temperature switch, operating t-stat, hi-limit t-stat and then to the radiant sensor and igniter.

The thermostats, radiant sensor, glow bar igniter should be disconnected and each one tested with an Ohm meter for continuity. The front panel will have to be taken off to access the components. There are a couple of screws along the bottom of the front panel. Disconnect the power cord and then remove the screws along the bottom of the front panel. Tilt the bottom outwards and then slide the front panel down. You will need to disconnect the door switch before you can remove the front panel and set it aside. The radiant sensor and high limit thermostat is mounted on the side of the gas burner cone. The operating thermostat is located on the front of the blower wheel cover.
