Hello glad to help.  Thank You for choosing Sears

I am sorry and do understand your frustration when needing to change the heating element in your dryer.

1.   Power down the dryer from the wall outlet or the breaker/fuse box. You can simply unplug the dryer or throw the breaker in the fuse box.

2.   Remove the back dryer cover. Pull the dryer away from the wall. Using the screwdriver, remove the screws from the back cover. Remove the back cover and place it against the wall.

3.  Remove the long vertical can located on the right side of the dryer. This can has the heating element inside. To remove the can, use long-nosed pliers to pull the element wires, the limit thermostat wires located above them and the thermal fuse wires.

4.  Loosen the can. Remove the 5/16-inch hex screw at the top. The screw and a little strap hold the can in place. Tip the can backward and lift off its two bottom hooks.

5.   Pull the heating element out. Remove the screw, which is the only thing holding the element in. Remove the old heating element by sliding it smoothly out.

6. Slide new heating element into place. It should fit snugly in place of the old one.

7.   Reassemble the dryer. Replace the screws, then tighten the end of the dryer cover and you will be able to turn the dryer back on.

If you have further questions please let me know.
Thanks for choosing Sears
