Thank you for the follow up information. From what you described it sounds like the lid switch is causing the problem. On this model the lid switch sends power to the watervalve & the motor. If the lid switch fails the motor will not run & if the fuse fails the unit will not fill, both are part of the lid switch on this model of washer. I found a link providing access & replacement of the lid switch for your model. Be sure to disconnect power before attempting to remove any panels.

Please click on the link below. After reading through the instructions please let us know if you have anymore questions or run into problems.

Q:

What is wrong with a Maytag model LAT8824AAM washer that will not agitate, spin or drain?

A:

From the description you give the most likely cause of the washer not agitating, spinning or draining is a bad lid switch assembly.

On this particular washer the lid switch has a fuse and if the fuse is open nothing will work. The washer will not fill, agitate, drain or spin.

You don't replace just the fuse because if the fuse is open then there is a short in the lid switch assembly.

Replace the lid switch assembly 22001682 for this problem. It is available from the following link: Sears PartsDirect .

I hope this information helps to solve this problem. Ir further assistance is needed then submit another question with any additional details.
