Thanks for the information about your washer model LA5500XSN1; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you. Based on the description you provided I am not sure if the washer just cuts off when it reaches spin, or it continues to run and drain but does not start spinning. The washer timer must have a pauses time between the drain and spin so the clutch and brake can reset. If the washer is spinning when you reset the timer I would not suspect the lid switch to be a problem, if the lid switch were bad the washer would not spin on ant setting. Try this: set washer to a normal wash load, observe the operation and when the timer gets to the spin drain mode watch to see if there is a pause for a few seconds (washer stops draining, no motor sounds) then restarts to begin spin. If there is no pause then the timer is at fault, if there is pause and no spin try raising and lowering lid to see if it spins, if it does then yes the lid switch could be intermittent.  I hope this helps, if you need additional help please reply with added details and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.
