The problem is caused by the vertical circuit. It can be repaired. There are 3 components that would need to be replaced a diode, capacitor, and IC. Replacing these components will require soldering equipment and skill. These are the location and part numbers IC541; 875998058, C541; 112696911, and D541; 871990803. The set needs to be de-energized prior to any work being done. After the set is unplugged, press and hold the power button for a few seconds. It is possible to get shocked even after de-energizing a TV because of the electricity that is stored in capacitors.

There are several things that could cause a TV not to power on. When you turn the TV on, does the light change color? Do you here any type of noise when you press the power button? Also, when you try and turn it on, does the screen turn to a different color or shade?
