Question and Answers

Q:

Dishwasher not washing KUDT03FTSS2 Kitchenaid Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kitchenaid Dishwasher, Model: KUDT03FTSS2. From reviewing the details on your model, from the description you give one thing to check is the water level. It should be within 1/4 inch of the element. Check this in the first wash cycle and check this at the final rinse and see if the level is the same. If the upper rack seems to be the problem then one trick is to place small cups in each corner of the upper and lower rack and let the dishwasher fill and wash a couple of minutes. Check the water level in each cup and it should be almost the same in each cup. Water heat is vital to dissolving the soap. At the end of the cycle the water should be hot and the dishes should almost be too hot to pick up. The filters in the sump may be clogged with food. The image below will help you access the sump to check the filters and chopper screen. This should be a start to resolving this problem.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the dishwasher to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

If you don’t feel comfortable or confident in this repair, then you can have it repaired at home by a sears technician. I have the included a link to the website: Sears Home Services or call 1-800-469-4663.

Q:

Why is my dishwasher not washing the upper rack. The water is not reaching the upper rack

A:

Hi,

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife.  I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

The dishwasher, depending on the type of model number you have, will fill and the pump will send water to the lower and the upper spray arm.  If the pump is not putting water to the spray arm if could be the diverter valve or the pump assembly itself.  The pump is dependent on the amount of water the dishwasher has filled with.  Too low of a water level and the upper spray arm will not receive any water.  If this is happening the dishwasher will make a surging sound as the pump runs out of tub water.  If there are more questions reply below and provide me the model number

If you decide to have a Technician check your appliance, call this number to get the service call arranged 1-888-266-6317.

Bill Thanks for the quick response. So the dishwasher does not make surging sound so i am going to guess that it is the diverter valve. Do you know how much that might cost me? Please let me know if you need any more information. This is a KitchenAide Architect 11 series about 5-6 years old. Unfortunately i cannot find the model number!
