Question and Answers

Q:

I replaced the electronic panel but my KitchenAid dishwasher still doesn't work.....Is there a RESET?

A:

I understand that you want to reset your dishwasher. Something that will have this kind of troubleshooting information is your owners manual. I was able to locate an owners manual similar to your here on the Manage My Life website. I attached the link below if you are interested in viewing. I hope this is helpful. Have a great day!

I have that owners manual....thank you though. Could it have anything to do with the soap dispenser door? I followed suggestions here that said to leave the dishwasher door open, and open the soap dispenser door as well, then shut off the power to the dishwasher. Turn the power back on (I shut it off at the circuit breaker) then shut the soap dispenser door, then the door to the dishwasher. I was able to get it started that way but the light started blinking again

The only way to reset the electronic control board in this dishwasher is to completely disconnect electrical power for 5 minutes. You can shut off the house circuit breaker for 5 minutes and then reset it.

Your details seem to indicate that you replaced the electronic control board that is shown as Key 11 in the parts image that I posted below (part number 8564543). Since the normal light keeps blinking, it is likely that the control panel will need to be replaced (Key 1). I provided the specific resistance check for that panel in the first image below. That normal key is probably bad. If you have a volt/ohm meter and precision probes (needle probes) then you may be able to use that information to check that control panel if necessary. If you need to order that control panel, you can visit this page: KitchenAid Dishwasher KUDS01ILBL6 Control Panel Parts . Your model number seems to indicate that the dishwasher has a black control panel. Here is a direct link for that part (Key 1): Black Control Panel for KitchenAid Dishwasher KUDS01ILBL6 .

Be sure that you shut off the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher before accessing and replacing internal components.

In this situation, you may be able to return that electronic control board (mother board) if that part is not needed. Although an electronic control board is normally not returnable, I recommend that you request an exception based on your circumstances. If you purchased that electronic control board through the Sears PartsDirect website, you can call them at 1-800-252-1698.

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, let us know.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .

Thank you. I HAVE replaced the control panel....I was calling it an electronic control panel.....unless there is something wrong with the NEW one as well......could the problem be with any sensor in the soap/detergent dispenser cup?

Hello William. Since you already replaced that control panel and you still have the same failure, it is likely that you will need to replace that electronic control board. It is unlikely that a problem with the sensor in the detergent dispenser cup is causing this problem. You can check that circuit. That dispenser sensor circuit is traced in red on the wiring diagram in the image below. You can shut off the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher and check for a short in that circuit to the metal cabinet. If you find no problems, then your failure is likely in the electronic control board (unless you received a bad control panel). That control panel can be checked using the information that I provided above if necessary (with the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher shut off). I hope that this additional information helps. If you need more assistance, let us know.

I'm confused I guess. The part I replaced is shown as part #11 on the diagram (part # 8564543). I was calling it the ELECTRONIC PANEL (motherboard) meaning that it was not on the oputside or facade of the dishwasher, but was on the inside after you remove the interior panel. It is the piece that has the ribbon attached. I looked at the ribbon (and have unplugged and replugged it (the ribbon). I suppose the replacement part could be defective.....I'm at a loss

That part number 11 (8564543) is the electronic control or mother board. It is not usually the cause of that blinking light failure. The control panel (Key 1) is the normal cause of a blinking light. You will probably need to replace that control panel to fix this problem. I apologize for any confusion about those parts. I hope that this helps clear up any misunderstanding about those components. If you need more help, let us know.
