You will normally need to pull the dishwasher out of the cabinet at least far enough to access the components that the hinges connect to. Here is a link for the installation guide that you can use as a reference for pulling that dishwasher out of the cabinet: Installation Instructions .

The failure that you are describing is often caused by a problem with the tension springs and or the connecting links that are shown in the image below. Before you attempt to replace the hinges, I recommend that you pull the dishwasher out of the counter and check those components. You can order parts from this page if necessary: Kitchenaid Dishwasher Model KUDS01FKSS1 Tub and Frame Parts .

If the hinges do need to be replaced, then you can use the information shown in the installation guide provided above to access those hinges. That manual shows how to separate the inner and outer door panels to install a custom panel kit. That information should help you access the hinges for replacement.

Be sure that you shut off the house circuit breaker for the dishwasher and shut off the water supply before pulling the dishwasher out of the counter and accessing internal door (or dishwasher) components.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician examine and repair the dishwasher, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services .
