Question and Answers

Q:

Dishes do not get clean KUDI01ILBL1 Kitchenaid Dishwasher

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect. I will be more than happy to assist you with your Kitchenaid dishwasher.

From the information you have provided above, I can understand the frustration of having your dishwasher malfunction, after researching model number KUDI01ILBL1. Check the end of the cycle when the dishwasher finishes the dishes should be almost too hot to touch. If the dishes are not hot at the end, then the water heat function in rinse is not working. If the dishwasher does not heat the water enough, it will not clean well. Check the water level after it has run a few minutes. If there is a siphon problem the water will drain out as the dishwasher washes. Check for suds in the water. Most dishwasher soaps have rinse agent added and the dishwasher dispenses rinse agent so suds in the water is a possibility and excessive suds can cause poor cleaning. The dishwasher needs to drain completely. If the dishwasher does not drain then the rinse can be with soapy water and leave a film on the dishes. If some items are clean and some are not then it may be a spray arm or circulation problem. You can place cups in the corners of the rack and see it they all get the same amount of water. Check your rinse aid dispenser. You should be using rinse aid such as Jet Dry so that the sheeting action of the water will be improved and water slide off of the glasses more easily during the drying process. Make sure that you are loading the dishwasher properly so that spray patterns are not blocked. Check the spray arms for cracks or splits. Check for deposit in the spray holes. You can normally clear any build-up with a toothpick if necessary.

I hope you found this information useful. Again thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business, have a great day.

Hello there!

That is a great question, I also have this issue with my dishwasher sometimes so I know it is frustrating to have a odd smell in it. I have looked into this model, and there is no filter that we need to replace in the unit.

The odd smell is coming from the chopper in the bottom of the dishwasher, and possibly from the spray arms and pump. There is a very easy solution to this and I personally recommend it.

I have a fantastic cleaner here that I personally use to get rid of any odors in my dishwasher. Below, I have included a link to the cleaner. I use mine about once every three months, but the first time you may need to use it 2-3 times in a row to get the best result. There are also cleaners that can help with odors in the washer! I have also included link to that below.

Thank you for choosing Sears! I hope you have a great day.

Until service person shows up (in a few days), I checked the coarse strainer and no debris was obstructing anything. Also checked overfill protection float and it seems to be operational.

Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

I do not have enough details in order to have a full understanding of where the water was pouring out from. Was water continuing to enter the dishwasher when the door was opened? Was the water level inside the tub up to the front lip of the tub and spilling over? Did it flood out from under the dishwasher when it went into a pump out?

When it happened I must assume you opened the door to see if the tub was overfilled with water. If for some reason the wrong type of detergent was used it would cause severe sudsing and it would leak suds and then the suds turn back to a liquid by the time it his the floor. The leak/flood could have been caused by a faulty water inlet valve or a hose may have come loose under the dishwasher. There are many possible causes or reasons and I recommend calling a service technician to diagnose and repair your dishwasher.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
