Thanks Joey S! I really appreciate it! Do you happen to know what could be the problem when the frig is making a chirping noise every minute or so?

Q:

Unable to replace ice bin KSSC42QTS00 Kitchenaid Built-in refrigerator

A:

From the trapdoor beneath the ice bin, I have removed the small motor. There is apparently a leak and ice has covered the motor. The motor's socket that holds the shaft is completely rusted away and stripped. The shaft was pushed up out of its socket but appears to be in fine condition. Since it was sitting slightly higher than normal, the ice bin could not be replaced properly. Although he motor appears to work properly I need to replace it since its socket is ruined. But, this fridge is only 6 years old. Just replaced the control board (very expensive) and now the ice bin motor. Clearly this KitchenAid fridge is of poor design and uses parts that don't last.

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more then happy to assist you. Sometimes these bins have a difficult time locking in place. There is also a coupling at the bottom of the ice container that has to mesh with the coupling in the door. Inspect the shaft and coupler for nicks or burrs and remove them. Clean any rust or debris from the shaft and coupling. If the seal and coupler are missing, the ice will not dispense from the bucket. You can put a thin coating of silicone grease on the shaft before installing it to prevent future problems.
